Jackson schedules public hearing on consolidation of health department and social services

Once again, the subject of consolidation of the county’s health and social services departments is the topic of discussion among the Jackson County Board of Commissioners. For the third time this year, the commissioners have discussed the consolidation at the board’s August as well as January and February meetings.

Franklin High School begins search for new Principal as Noe transitions to central office role

Franklin High School (FHS) is embarking on the search for a new principal following the impending transition of Michael "Mikey" Noe to a central office position. The Macon County Schools Board of Education approved Noe's transfer from FHS principal to the role of Chief Academic Officer/Federal Programs Director, effective Sunday, Oct. 1. Noe, who took on the position of FHS principal in July 2021, has had a distinguished career in education, including notable roles in the region.

Bryson City officials moving forward with developing town’s first UDO
