Chasing a dream led Hannah Trammel to launching an online boutique geared toward unique items for first responders’ families called Strength of the Line. After watching that business grow, Trammel made the decision to expand to a Franklin, NC location with a grand opening scheduled for February 15.
“We have had an online presence since March 2020,” said Trammel. “We quickly outgrew our extra bedroom, so we put up a storage shed in our backyard, which we outgrew in a couple of months. We have shipped to 42 states and three countries. We just feel like this is the next step, and we are super excited to see some of our customers in person and to meet new locals.”
Strength of the Line is owned and operated by a veteran/ first responder family and operates with the goal of helping other first responder families and agencies. The unique boutique does custom work for t-shirts, drinkware, decals, and so much more.
“We offer a variety of products including graphic and handcrafted tumblers, water bottles, coffee mugs, car accessories, hats, and jewelry with a focus on first responder, military, Christian, mama, and motivational designs,” said Trammel. “We also offer custom apparel. It is important to us that our customers feel like a friend, instead of just another order number.”
Outside of their retail goals, Trammel and her husband Trevor started the business with the intention of launching first responder marriage retreats. Trevor currently works as a paramedic with Emergency Medical Services and as a first responder couple, this has always been as important to goal as they recognize there are little to no resources.
“We did not have the financial means to implement that right away, but we are growing and hope to start building that program this summer,” said Trammel. “The internet in our house in Cowee is very spotty and we do not have cell phone service. Being in town, gives us the chance to have a physical location to meet people, provides us with reliable communication tools and helps generate more income to pour into our mission.”
Trammel said that Strength of the Line is far more than just a boutique, she wants it to be a community pillar.
“Our hope is to pour into our community and give back to those who give so much to us,” said Trammel. “We’ve been blessed to donate over $3,000 to our local first responders already, and we look forward to doing more to help on an individual, family, and community level as we can. We have some ideas in the works, and we are always happy to discuss how we can help.”
The Strength of the Line website is ready to shop, and they are currently offering local pick-up and shipping. They are working overtime to open the brick and mortar store, which will be located at 615 Highlands Rd in Franklin.
