Franklin Fire and Rescue receives two FEMA Grants

After months of work, preparation, and anticipation, Franklin Fire and Rescue has been notified that it
will receive two FEMA grants. The first grant awarded to Franklin Fire & Rescue is an Assistance to
Firefighter Grant (AFG) for 10 Mobile Fire Radio Repeaters in the amount of $39,030.00. These mobile
repeaters will be installed in every vehicle and apparatus at Franklin Fire & Rescue to insure critical radio coverage during emergency operations.

The second grant awarded to Franklin Fire & Rescue is a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) in the amount of $304,545. This grant will be used to help recruit and retain volunteer firefighters, purchase turnout gear for new recruits, promote training and certifications for volunteer firefighters, and installation of a sign to help promote recruitment. This grant is to be used over a four-year period. Franklin Fire and Rescue would like to thank FEMA for awarding these grants to the department so that the citizens and visitors of Franklin and Macon County can be better served and protected.
