Franklin Rotary Club brings “Cinderella Slipper” project to Franklin

One of the last projects the Franklin Rotary was able to complete before Governor Roy Cooper’s Stay at Home Order was issued for North Carolina was the distribution of 68 pair of slippers to Franklin area seniors who receive a daily home delivered meals through the Macon County Meals on Wheels program. Jennifer Hollifield, Senior Citizens Center Director, assisted in obtaining slipper sizes for each of the seniors, which were purchased by the Rotary Club
Rotarians were able to ride along with the meal delivery drivers and delivered slippers to each senior on the route.

This particular project came from a suggestion by District Governor Tiffany Ervin and is called the  Cinderella Project. Ervin encouraged Rotary Clubs throughout District 7670 to create their own individualized program surrounding shoes. Clubs within District 7670, which encompasses WNC, met the challenged with projects to provide shoes to residents of assisted living facilities, back-to-school shoes for children, or snow boots for preschool children in winter.
