4-H is coming to Hudson Library this summer for some fun hands-on programs for children. These programs are presented through a partnership with Macon County 4-H.
On Thursday June 8 at 3:30 PM, Kids Zone will feature 4-H Fun: Super Seeds!
Did you know we can grow our own garden inside? We will look at different ways to germinate and grow seeds that can be used for our tables such as greens, lettuce and basil. Participants will make mini greenhouses that they can take home with potted seeds that will grow at their home and can be transplanted. We will talk about sowing seeds inside vs. sowing seeds outside.
4-H Fun will return on Thursday June 22 at 3:30 PM for a Kids Zone program 4-H Fun: Splendid Soil!
Looking at soil close-up is very interesting. We have many different types of soils in our mountains. We will look at different types of soils, what in the soil makes plants grow and how to choose the best soils to make our flowers and gardens grow. After experimenting with soils, we will also look at worms and organisms that live in the soil. We will finish up with a fun craft.
