Macon County Art Association celebrates 60th Anniversary with new Uptown Gallery ARTFEST 

Macon County Art Association celebrates 60 years of local art with a new weekend ArtFest August 11, 12 and 13. Sponsored by the association’s Uptown Gallery, 30 Main Street, the celebration includes an art show at Macon County Public Library throughout August. 

Free events for children and adults will include art demonstrations, classes, workshops and films, all at the library, 149 Siler Road, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11 and Friday, Aug. 13; and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13.

Local musical trio Blue Jazz will cap off the weekend celebration Saturday night, Aug. 13, with a 7 p.m. Tartan Hall concert to benefit art programs in Macon County Schools. The event, will include a Silent Auction, refreshments, dancing and a $1 per ticket raffle for an original painting. 

Tickets for both the concert and the painting are available at MCAA’s Uptown Gallery and at the library during ArtFest. Pre-event concert ticket price is $25 per ticket; price at the event is $35 per ticket. Concert tickets may be reserved by contacting mtully1001@gmail.com
