Once again, Highlands Chamber of Commerce/Visit Highlands, NC will host the annual spring arts festival.
HIGHLANDS, N.C. – “Meander in May,” the free, self-guided arts festival organized by the Highlands Chamber of Commerce/Visit Highlands, NC is back, Saturday, May 14, in downtown Highlands. The event will feature more than a dozen live, musical performances and demonstrations by artists along and just off Main Street.
Festivities will begin at 11 a.m. and culminate with a free concert by 80s tribute band The Breakfast Club in Kelsey-Hutchinson Park from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., part of the “Saturdays on Pine” Outdoor Concert Series.
Painting, woodworking, metalworking and ceramics demonstrations – along with performances by 16 bands and musicians – may be found at points from The Bascom: A Center for the Visual Arts to Hudson Library.
“It truly is an immersive and interactive arts experience,” says Kaye McHan, executive director of the Highlands Chamber of Commerce/Visit Highlands. “Some of our best talent and examples of Highlands-area artistry will be on display and, of course, our shops and restaurants will be ready to serve.”
A map and schedule of the day’s activities will be available. Festival attendees are encouraged to park downtown, particularly along the streets and lots parallel to and just off Main. Comfortable walking shoes, rain gear and folding chairs or a blanket for the evening concert are recommended.
