The Macon Middle School Track Team finished the season on top — breaking several records along the way.
“I’m extremely proud of the hard work that these kids put in throughout this season,” said MMS track coach Zach Tallent. “It was a very strange year for us, but they capitalized on their opportunities and made the best of them. Great things are in store for the future of Franklin Panthers track and field. I’m so excited to watch these athletes compete as they get older!”
During the BRC Conference Championship Meet, the Franklin Panthers earned top honors, bring home first places finishes in several categories:
Girls Shot Put: Charley Seagle (1st: 30′-08.5″), Piper Wittekind (2nd: 27′-04″), Nadia Owle (3rd: 27′-03″)
Girls Discus: Charley Seagle (1st: 76′-05″)
Girls Long Jump: Laura Covarubbias (1st: 13′-11.75″)
Girls 100m Hurdles: Cali Queen (2nd: 19.54s)
Girls 4x100m Relay: Cali Queen, Michelle Ortega, Maddie Breeden, Laura Covarrubias (3rd: 57.65s)
Boys Discus: Kaleb Gibbs (2nd: 100′-01″)
Boys Long Jump: Braylen Dezarn (3rd: 17′-05″)
Boy’s High Jump: Talon Smith (3rd: 5′-03″)
Boy’s 4x100m Relay: Talon Smith, Braylen Dezarn, Kaleb Gibbs, Addix Sutton (2nd: 50.88s)
Boy’s 4x200m Relay: Talon Smith, Braylen Dezarn, Kaleb Gibbs, Addix Sutton (2nd: 1:45.87)
In addition to bringing home top honors during the conference championship meet, members of the Macon Middle School broke school records, setting the bar high (pun intended) for future Panters.
