With school scheduled to begin on August 17, working parents are having to find alternative cares for their children for the days they won’t be in the classroom during the week. All Macon County students will be doing remote learning on Fridays and most students in the district will have two additional days of remote learning throughout the week. To address the need for child care, vairious churches, businesses, and organizations have launched remote learning programs for the Fall semester.
Great Beginnings Lutheran Preschool
Great Beginnings Lutheran Preschool will be expanding their service area to care for children ages 3-12 on Monday-Friday from 7:30 to 5:30. After a $50 registration fee, the fees are:
5 Days a Week- $460.00/month
3 Days a Week- $335.00/month
2 Days a Week- $260.00/month
1 Day a Week- $130.00/month
For younger children, ages 3-5 (Before Kindergarten) there is a $150 Registration Fee and then fees are:
M-F- $555/mo
Monday, Wednesday, Friday-$385/mo
Tuesday, Thursday- $295/mo.
The school will be providing wi-fi internet for students enrolled in the program to complete their schoolwork.

Smoky Mountain Sk8way’s Remote Learning Camp
Located in Haywood County, Smoky Mountain Sk8way will be hosting a program for students in grades 1 through 7 from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The program costs $150 a week after a registration fee. The business has upgraded their wifi system to increase capacity to be able to serve 50 students streaming at once.
The business has also hired a certified teacher to compliment their already experienced staff of counselors. They will help keep students on track with online classes.
Breakfast and a snack will be provided, and students will bring their own lunch. The camp schedule will include online studies and then time to play games, skate, and do physical activities. They have partnered with the Haywood County Library System to provide books in house for students to read.

The Best Nest
A new business venture in Franklin will provide a unique approach to child care options. The Best Nest will serve kids 18 months to 12 years and will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Rather than an enrollment or registration, The Best Nest will operate as an on-demand child care options with hourly rates. Pricing starts at $10 an hour for one child and $8 per additional child.
“The Best Nest is a drop-in child care service, so there’s no need to enroll your child. We do not provide food, so please be sure to pack your child food and drinks for the time in which they will be in our care. We will be open during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Snack time will be provided once each day. We will provide a fun and structured learning environment for children ages 18 months – 12 years. We will be complying with all COVID guidelines to ensure that your child is in a safe, clean environment. Please be sure to check our Facebook page as the weeks go on for more detailed information. We are a new facility and haven’t yet opened our doors. Our date to open as of now is September 7.”

Holly Springs Baptist Church
Holly Springs Baptist Church will be providing a day camp option as a ministry to aid families during this time of uncertainty.
The program will be for children in Kindergarten through 4th grade and will be from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
The weekly program will cost $75 per week, per child.

New Visions Gymnastics
New Visions Gymnastics will be expanding their summer camp to provide remote learning care for students this Fall. The supplemental learning camp will have full-time and part-time options available and will also provide afterschool care until 5:30 on the days students are in-person.
The program will retain the structure of the school day and include the Pledge of Allegiance. There will be organized school time in 30-minute segments (longer for older students). Students will also engage in break times for play in gymnastics, ninja, and bouldering. There will be a lunch break followed by organized games and educational activities.
After a $35 registration fee, the standard rates will be $425 a month for full time (Monday-Friday).
$95/month per day if Part-Time (i.e. twice a week = $190/month)
The rates for Competitive Team Member are
$325/month for Full Time (Monday-Friday)
$75/month per day if Part-Time (i.e. twice a week = $150/month)
After School Care from 3:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m. rates are $125/month or $13/day – these rates apply to those enrolled in the Supplemental Learning Program.
Sibling discount of 10% off for the second sibling, and 20% off for each additional sibling.
Danny Antonine Martial Arts & Fitness Academy
A remote learning camp will be provided by Danny Antonine Martial Arts & Fitness academy from 7:30 – 6 p.m. every day for students in Kindergarten through 12 grade.
The rates will be $100 weekly, $30 daily, or $55 for after school pick up and care.

The Nantahala Learning Center
The learning center will be hosting an Academic Program for students this Fall from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday-Friday.
The program has remote learning full time and after school tuition options throughout the week as well as a program for students who will be enrolled in the Virtual Academy.
Students will work one on one or in small groups with a highly trained teacher or tutor to complete Remote Learning Assignments on the days your child is not in school. This option also includes After School Tutoring for the days your child attends school in-person. Homework assigned by the teacher will be completed during this time.
After a $50 registration fee, the cost for the remote learning + after school tutoring option is $110 per week/$440 per month for a 4 week month. For the ½ day remote learning only option, the cost is $60 per week/$240 per month for 3 days per week. The full virtual option is $150 per week/$600 per month and the after school tutoring only option is $50per week /$200 per month for 5 days per week with rates decreasing with the number of days attending.
Gwen’s Speech Therapy
Gwen’s Speech Therapy is happy to announce the Fun and Functional Learning Academy! They are providing a safe, clean space with ample internet for students in grades K through 12 to attend and continue their online studies. There will be tutors and teachers aides present at all times to encourage and help the students. Matthew Kiefer is a certified teacher who will be the lead educational coordinator.
In addition to academic assistance, there will be fun and functional cognitive and social building activities!
