Nantahala Ranger District to host a “Kid’s Fishing Day” event

Franklin, NC, May 20, 2021—The Nantahala Ranger District will host a “Kid’s Fishing Day” event to celebrate National Fish and Boating week on Saturday June 5, 2021 at the Cliffside Lake Recreation Area. The event begins at 8:00 am and ends at 1:00 pm.

This annual event allows children ages 15 years and younger to fish for free. No fishing license is required at this event and no experience is needed to participate. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Some events are extremely popular and may adjust age and creel limits or stagger fishing time to ensure participant safety.

Registration will be completed upon arrival. The recreation area will be temporarily closed to the general public before and during the event to accommodate the participants.

The fishing event allows families and friends to share fun, quality time together while learning about one of our nation’s favorite pastimes – fishing.
