Public meetings hosted by the Independent Monitor for Mission Health System will continue next week in several communities across Western North Carolina. The next two meetings will take place on November 1st and 2nd for Macon/Jackson Counties, relating to Angel Medical Center and Highlands-Cashiers Hospital. Details provided below. These follow the initial two meetings last week held in Transylvania County and Buncombe County, for which materials are now available to download on the Independent Monitor’s website. Two additional meetings related to Mission Hospital McDowell (McDowell County) and Blue Ridge Regional Hospital (Mitchell County) will be scheduled in early 2024 (details to be released soon). As Independent Monitor, we review HCA Healthcare’s compliance with the obligations HCA agreed to when it purchased Mission Health System in early 2019. In each of the upcoming community meetings, we will discuss our role, provide an update on HCA’s 15 commitments, and provide an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and provide feedback. Attendance may be limited by space restrictions, so registration is strongly encouraged and available at the following link.
