25 regional employers coming to Cherokee Casino for Career and resource Expo on Nov. 20

The inaugural Mountain Community Career and Resource Expo will be held from 9am-2pm on Saturday, November 20, at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Resort Conference Center, 777 Casino Drive, Cherokee, NC.

Over 25 regional employers representing hospitality and tourism, technology, health care, manufacturing and professional services will showcase their career opportunities and many will conduct on-the-spot hiring. Job seekers are encouraged to bring copies of their resume and dress to impress. Anyone needing a new resume or updates to an existing one are encouraged to contact their local NCWorks Career Center to work with a career advisor. Interview and elevator pitch preparation are also available.

Additionally, community resource organizations covering our seven Western North Carolina counties will be on hand to provide information on their services.

Multiple door prizes will be awarded during the expo.

The event is open to all and will place special emphasis on honoring the valuable service of our veterans and their families. According to Gerard Ball, the Jackson/Swain County NCWorks Career Advisor spearheading the expo, “We believe it is essential to serve those who bravely served us. I am honored to work with our career centers and veteran services staff to assist our veteran and community job seekers in finding a job and to secure essential resources.”

Face coverings are encouraged but optional for vendors and attendees regardless of vaccination status.

The event is presented by the NCWorks Career Centers in Macon, Jackson, Swain, Haywood and Tri-County NCWorks Career Centers and is proudly sponsored through the generosity of Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort. Jan Stubbs, Harrah’s Talent Acquisition Manager is serving as Harrah’s partner with NCWorks on this event. “Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort is proud to be sponsoring the Inaugural Mountain Career and Resource Expo this year to provide career and resource opportunities to residents of Western North Carolina. This event is truly unique in that attendees will be provided with all the tools, resources and support needed in seeking new job opportunities at one location. We know this event will be resourceful for our region and we thrilled that we get to be a part of it. “
