Jackson County Sheriff’s Office announces new smartphone app

Jackson County Sheriff, Chip Hall, is excited to announce the release of their new custom smartphone application. The app will serve as an innovative way for the Sheriff’s Office to connect with Jackson County residents and visitors, providing information quickly and efficiently to anyone with a smartphone.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office app was developed by, a division of OCV, LLC which specializes in mobile app development for sheriff’s offices and public safety organizations across the country. The app offers quick access to items of public interest and is easy to use. In just a few clicks, users can access features such as:

“Over 80 percent of people in the United States own and use smartphones as their primary means of communication,” OCV Vice President Kevin Cummings said. “Mobile apps offer agencies a better way to alert, inform and prepare the public. Apps allow public safety agencies the ability to reach and serve their citizens where they are: their smartphones.”

“The development of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office app will serve as a means for Sheriff’s Office personnel to provide immediate and accurate information to our citizens during events and incidents which impact Jackson County,” Sheriff Chip Hall said.  “App users who allow notificationsand alerts from our app will have access to timely information coming directly from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.”

Important features of the app include an easy method for the submission of crime tips and information about potential threats to school safety.  Submissions made in the app are immediately directed by email to an assigned deputy for follow up. 

A link to county schools is prominently located on the first line of the app and provides information about contacting every school resource officer in the county.  “School safety is a top priority for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office,” stated Sheriff Hall.  “This feature in the app will aid in our ongoing efforts to ensure the needs of our schools are met daily.”
