A Macon County man was sentenced in court last week after being found guilty for sex crimes against a child.
Roy Lee Hurst plead guilty to First-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Third-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and Taking Indecent Liberties with a Child this week in Macon County.
On September 3, 2021, Officer Justin Riles and Sgt. Laurie Beegle of the Franklin Police Department received a call from the mother of a 4 year old stating she had found inappropriate photographs and a video of her son on a friend’s phone.
The officers went to the apartment complex where this incident had occurred and located the suspect, identified as Roy Lee Hurst. The officers asked Hurst about the photos and he indicated he was aware of the same.
According to District Attorney Ashley Welch’s office, after pleading guilty this week, Hurst received a sentence of 73 months minimum to 148 months maximum. He was ordered to register as a sex offender for 30 years, and have no contact with the victim for the rest of the defendant’s natural life.
6 to 12 years is not even enough.only having to register as a set offender for 30 years is a joke
