The Town of Franklin has been informed that work should begin during the week of June 12 –16 on crosswalks in the downtown area. A contractor for the NCDOT will be realigning and restriping several crosswalks. This will lead to temporary lane closures while work is being done and some significant traffic congestion during the project. Signage will be in place related to closures and flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control.
East and West Main Street
All crosswalks beginning at the Town Hall through the crosswalk at the intersection of West Main Street and Porter Street at the Lazy Hiker Brewing Co. will be realigned/restriped, with the exception of the crosswalks at West Main and Harrison Avenue.
East Palmer Street
The crosswalks at the intersection of East Palmer and Phillips Street and the mid-block crosswalk from the public parking area are currently the only ones included in this project. This is not a Town project but one being completed by NCDOT. We will be communicating with the contractor to determine a more definite schedule and will post information to various social media platforms and the Town’s website when known.
