Today, February 21, 2021 there are two separate investigations being conducted by the Macon County Sheriff’s Office where individuals have been found deceased.
The first investigation was initiated this morning following a 911 call at 10:18am reporting a male slumped over in a running vehicle parked at the over look on 64 West. A motorist reported seeing the vehicle at 8am and again at time of call. EMS and MCSO immediately responded to the area. First responding deputy found a male victim deceased inside the vehicle from an apparent gunshot wound. The deceased was located sitting in the driver’s seat with a shotgun.
The second MCSO investigation is at a residence off of Broadleaf Lane where an adult male and two dogs were found deceased on front porch by a family friend. The family friend called 911 at 10:28am and reported what he had found on the front porch of the home. EMS & deputies responded and found two deceased dogs on the front porch next to an adult deceased male who was holding a firearm. An adult deceased female was also located by deputies in a bedroom of the residence. All deceased appeared to have injuries consistent with being shot.
“Both of these investigations are ongoing but our preliminary findings are that one is a murder/suicide and the other is a suicide,” said Sheriff Robert Holland. “There is nothing that leads us to believe the two cases are connected to one another but both remain very active investigations.”
The families of the deceased have been notified.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims in these cases.
More information will be released when appropriate.
