On Friday, September 9, 2022 deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI) executed a search warrant at the residence of Belinda Smiddy Byrd Webb in the Whittier community of Jackson County. Webb had been the target of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office in an ongoing criminal investigation. Webb had previously been identified by deputies as a distributor of illegal narcotics to include fentanyl and methamphetamine.
During the early morning hours of Friday, September 9, 2022 deputies observed a vehicle leaving the driveway of the Webb residence and begin traveling on Thomas Valley Road. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for violating North Carolina General Statutes Chapter 20 Motor Vehicle laws. During the traffic stop deputies seized illegal controlled substances and arrested two individuals.
Later that day deputies with the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division gained information sufficient enough to apply for and receive a search warrant for the Webb residence. JCSO Deputies and NCSBI Agents served a search warrant at 53 Celestial Drive in Whittier on Friday, September 9, 2022. Two individuals were inside the residence and were detained without any issues. During the search of the residence JCSO Deputies located and seized illegal controlled substances to include: Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Crack Cocaine.
Following the search warrant Belinda Smiddy Byrd Webb was taken into custody and transported to the Jackson County Detention Center where she was charged with Trafficking in Opium or Heroin, Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, and/or Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Trafficking in Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, and/or Deliver Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, and/or Deliver Methamphetamine, and Maintain a Dwelling Place for Controlled Substances.
Belinda Smiddy Byrd Webb is currently confined at the Jackson County Detention Center under a $365,000.00 bond.
