Tuesday night standoff with MCSO Deputies results in multitude of charges

Franklin, NC – At approximately 12:30 AM on May 17, a Macon County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle in the Cowee community of Macon County. When asked to produce a driver’s license, the driver of the vehicle fled.
The deputy was able to track the vehicle, which had wrecked near an empty residence. At that point, other deputies had also responded and found muddy footprints leading into the residence.

Upon entry, a female subject surrendered to deputies. The male subject barricaded himself in a room within the residence, and began to open fire in the room. The deputies quickly got the female subject to safety.
After approximately four hours of negotiation with our Special Response Team, Investigators, Sheriff Holbrooks and Major Wishon, the male subject surrendered without further incident.

After the subjects were secured, 2.5 grams of Fentanyl and 4-5 grams of Methamphetamine were found in their vehicle. They were also found to be in possession of a stolen tractor, and were living in a stolen camper in the area.

The subjects were identified as Jessica Harrison and Jerimy Thibideau of Jacksonville, Florida, and have several forthcoming charges as this investigation continues.

“Thank you to our officers, who continue to impress us with their bravery, integrity, and dedication,” said Sheriff Brent Holbrooks.
