WILSON- Today, the Wilson Police Department received information of a person on social media posting that they were involved in this incident. The person was identified, was interviewed, and home searched. The person was identified as a 14 years of age male that was in possession of a realistic BB pistol. The juvenile is not considered a suspect to this incident and was making false claims of their involvement on social media. Due to the age of the juvenile, their identity can not be revealed.
There have been public concerns regarding the response time of officers to the complex. 911 notes from the incident indicate the following; from the time the call was dispatched to officers to the time the first officer stated they were on scene was 1 minute and 26 seconds. That officer was an officer assigned to the Parks and Recreation Unit and was working the event.
Today, the Wilson Police Department continued searches of the baseball complex grounds along with the surroundingwoodlands and open fields. The department’s Homicide Task Force, General Investigations Division, Violent CrimeTask Force, and Forensics Unit participated in the search. Detectives are reviewing all available camera footage and interviewing identified witnesses. The police department is also continuing to use other city and private resources in this investigation.
