A note to my readers — Thank You!

When I launched the Southern Scoop, I knew that Western North Carolina needed news more frequently than once a week through our local papers. Our local papers do a tremendous amount for the community and I in no way want to devalue their services, I still write for TWO local papers. I think a daily online news source is an additional resource for our communities, and one that has gone largely unavailable for the region before now. I am extremely proud of what we are building together.

I had worried that there wouldn’t be enough “news” to provide daily content, but boy was I wrong. I am overwhelmed with the questions and news tips I get sent daily – questions I am happy to seek the answers to for you. Because as I have said all along, this is YOUR news resource. I want this to be of value for you.

In the short time I have been providing news content on thesouthernscoopnews.com, I have build an average daily visitor count off 400 visitors, which account for 600 visits every day. With no advertising and doing nothing but posting fresh, quality, content, I am pretty proud of that traffic.

I am also nearly full in regards to advertising space on the website for the month. I have intentionally kept advertising space on the website to a minimal because I do not want it to take away from the news. So there is very limited space, just enough for me to be able to finically make The Southern Scoop sustainable. If we have not talked about advertising and it is something you want to know more about, please message me today!! There is also still availability for individual “supporters” to make a donation to help keep the site going.

I am also very close to launching an email newsletter, which will of course be free, but provide daily emails with headlines and topics covered on the website so you are able to stay up-to-date and current. I am working on the kinks in this and should have it up and running soon.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for joining me on this journey. I am so grateful for the support, encouragement, advice, story ideas, and more. I cannot wait to see where we can take The Southern Scoop!
